I finally finished five quilts and they are off being machine quilted. Although I took a class in August at the AQS show in Grand Rapids for machine quilting I just am not geared up to do it myself. Plus I would need a new machine and cannot justify that purchase right now. So I will continue to have someone else do them for me. A special quilt I will continue to hand quilt.
I looked at my fabric rack filled with prints and decided I needed to use them up. I finished an 81x96 plus 72x90 top only to look back at the rack and see absolutely no dent. A daunting task. I am on a third using the cheddar and red prints. Will see how much I use up then. When I turn around and see the antique pie safe holding all the solids I just say, my oh my. And yet, there are so many BEAUTIFUL NEW fabrics to be had. What to do?
My dilemma of to much fabric? I purged a bunch and am giving to the Quilt Guild, but there is still a LOT left. I will sew, sew, sew until my fingers decide it is time to knit! That collection is ANOTHER story of excess. To think I purged that as well. One day at a time!

Finishing up some small pieces for the fall Mennonite Auction. One more to get a label but will need to wait. Getting ready to go to Madeline Island and wanted these done before I dive into a new medium class I am taking, "Boro Transformed". Very excited as we will also be doing some indigo dying. Oh, yippee!!

My niece sent me a link to a recent estate sale and I was able to obtain all of these older fabrics. I finally finished cleaning and ironing. Now ready for projects. There were a few nice pieces that I couldn't save as they were so faded in various areas which was disappointing, but happy with what I did manage to keep. Also purchased some feed sacks and really old child's lace cotton petticoats. Not sure what I will do with those. Enjoying my stack.

I never thought I would like the color red as much as I do today. Blue or green were always my go to colors. Still are in this new house we are building. Smoky blue with creamy cupboards. Oh, but to cook in a kitchen again. Soon. In the meantime I realized I haven't posted anything in awhile so found this little gem I once made. The thing is I can't remember how I did it. But I sure do love how it turned out. Hope you like it too. The centers are my original red work drawings.
